Rest Area
If you can't tell by now, I didn't give much thought to my sleeping arrangements on this trip. I brought a tent, but didn't look ahead to reserve any spots. I guess I was expecting I'd be able to just find a primitive camp site some where and I likely can in the mountains, but I forgot just how hard they are to come by near and in Denver.
My backup plan is just to sleep in my car, something I'm no stranger to. But again, I forgot how many packpackers and campers actually come to Colorado. I usually have no problem sleeping at a truck stop or in a hotel parking lot, but the one I checked tonight had signs everywhere prohibiting that.
So that left me with a rest area, but you can see on the picture that even those fill up at night in Denver. In the end, I've driven 30 miles back east to a rest stop next to a truck stop and find it quite enjoyable. There are a few other car sleepers, but otherwise it’s nearly empty except for trucks and campers.
I have my air mattress set up and it promises to be the best car sleep I've ever had. I'll be fully stretched out in the back instead of curled up in the front seat with 1 leg on the steering wheel like usual.
I even took the time to make some tea to have while editing today's video. All in all, not to bad.
