This post is just to let you know what's going on with the channel right now.
Unfortunately a couple weeks ago, I lost my job. I was a director of engineering at a software company, a software company, if you’re curious what I did My position was terminated. I don't take it personally that I did something wrong. I understand business. Sometimes you just have to eliminate positions when certain things happen.
Anyway, what that means is that I’m going to have to change the focus of the channel a little bit right now because I'm a huge technophile. I love buying new camera gear, 360 cameras, vlogging equipment, iPads, etc.
I've always funded that stuff with my salary and, well, now I don't have a salary. I can't buy those types of things for a while. So what that means is, I'm going to have to focus on content that doesn't cost anything.
So it'll be stuff like more tutorials. I just did a tutorial on how to do a tutorial on Sub Pixel Super Resolution; creating a 100 megapixel image using a DSLR camera. Other options are things like the history thread video that I did on the Treasury Pillars in Pioneer’s Park that I think it turned out really well.
That's all stuff that I can do at home or with current gear and it doesn't cost me anything. I would love to keep buying new tech to try out, like the Insta360 One R and some Theta cameras to do more Google Street View tutorials using those. It's just going to have to wait right now for a little while.I'm going to keep trying to figure out new things to do with the 360 cameras, but it's going to have to be with the cameras that currently have.
I'm doing fine. I'm looking for jobs but as you know with the world wide incident that's going on right now not of a lot of people are hiring. I'm just kind of doing what I can, focusing on videos and waiting for companies to start opening up to hiring again.
So, I'm just going to experiment a little bit with new video ideas. I know my channel is already pretty varied. It might just get a little bit more varied here as I try things out. If there is something that you think would be interesting shoot me a comment below or reach out to me using my contact page.
I know you guys aren't going to go anywhere. I think I have the best fans because in my three years of being a YouTuber, I've lost only around 5 or 6 subscribers and I have 560 right now so that's a pretty good success rate. You guys are awesome.
I'm glad you like what I do and I'm going to keep trying to do the same kind of stuff, but I know and trust that you understand what's going on and that I'm going to try to continue to find interesting things to make videos about for you to watch.
Otherwise yeah, if you're looking for a freelance video editor to work remotely I'm available. But in seriousness, I appreciate you watching and appreciate you subscribing. Let's get through this time together and just keep doing what we love. For me, that’s making videos. Keep doing what you love.
